Hit Talibans: U.S. Says It, Pakistan Does It

Officials say that the Pakistani troops attacked a Taliban stronghold on Wednesday using helicopter gunships and mortar rounds somewere in Mingora the north-western frontier province of Pakistan.

The offense comes as a reaction to the directives of the U.S. Government to crack down the extremists which continuously rose violence at home and in Afghanistan. Anyway it is thought that this kind of actions will please the Washington as it is thought to be in their plans to hunt down and punish the militants in the region. The Obama administration inclines towards securing the Pakistani region by making a strong and lasting regional alliance, insiting in facing the treat that the Taliban and other militants are posing.

It is said that the number of refugees is somwere around 500,000 as children and adults alike took everything they had and fled Migora to hunker in the less tensioned regions.

Although none of the officials went public to discuss the occurence, rumors say that more than 100 millitants were kiled during the combats that started Tuesday and continued through the night into Wednesday. Because the Taliban moved in the vally into Buner, the authorities turned their attention towards this region 60 miles from the capital. Anyway it is not known untill now how many militants insurgents remained in Buner.
