New York Woman Stole $12m Worth Gold and Jewelry

Gold Jewelry

I can say that I would love to know this woman. Seriously. Teresa Tambunting, a 50-year-old woman from New York was accused of stealing more than 800 pounds of gold and jewelry from Jacmel Jewelry Inc. The gold that the woman stole was worth about $12 million and she stole that amount in about six years.

Teresa Tambunting has been charged with first-degree grand larceny and first-degree criminal possession of stolen property. It seems like the January inventory revealed that 850 pounds of gold were unaccounted for, and an investigation showed that Tambunting stole it. After that, the woman returned 66 pounds from the gold stolen from her job. Eventually, she returned about 448 pounds of gold, but a part of the gold is still missing.

“The defendant is accused of establishing a virtual mining operation … which siphoned off millions of dollars worth of the precious metal from her employer,” said Queens District Attorney, Richard Brown.

The gold and jewelry were worth $12 million, and although Jacmel Jewelry Inc. might not get the entire amount back, Jack Rahmey, President of Jacmel declined to comment. We should hear a verdict soon.
