Part of the "Unthink What You Thought About KFC"
Companies have always offered giveaway or discount promotion only to draw more publicity and clients, making them more successful with little of effort. The point is to get as much drive traffic as you can in order to increase your clientele. Although this may seem like a very good idea, this whole operation could backfire, turning it all in one big loss.
Oprah site is creating enormous publicity and this morning the “Kentucky fried chicken coupons” were No. 11 on Google trends. What makes it interesting is that while KFC still serves the Colonel’s recipes for 50 years now, the company still tries to change the public beliefs with the campaign “Unthink What You Thought About KFC”. So until midnight eastern time today you can download a coupon for a free two-piece chicken meal, sides and a biscuit which you use at any KFC restaurants located in the United States.
No matter the costs or volume, the campaign’s purpose is to pull KFC out of the underdeveloped fast-foods chains ranks.
