Lakers Overcome Rockets 111-98 And Level Semi-Fianl Series

Kobe Bryant was Lakers’ top performer as he scored 40 points, helping Los Angeles win in front of Huston Rockets 111-98 on Wednesday. The 2nd game of the NBA Western Conference semi-final series won by LA Lakers leveld the score at 1-1.

Pau Gasol and Derek Fisher were other two notable players for Los Angeles as they contributed 22 points and 14 rebouns respective 12 points. With Kobe and Pau scoring together over 60 points, Lakers revenged in front of their fans at the Staples Center after the surprise 100-92 home-court loss on Monday.

The visitor’s top scorer was forward Ron Artest with 25 points, while Yao Ming only scored 12.

Game two of the best-of-seven series gave referee Joey Crawford some head ache being forced to dictate not less than 5 technical fouls — to Bryant, Lamar Odom, Luke Walton, Artest and Luis Scola.

Lakers weren’t a good host, trying to overcome Rockets right from the start, so Bryant scored 15 and Gasol 13 and the 1st quarter whistle found LA leading 39-25.

Anyway Huston didn’t look so downhearted, managing to come back in the game and even lead 49-48 during 2nd period. It seems Kobe wasn’t happy with Rockets leading and he tied the score 57-57 just before half-time.

During the 3rd period Kobye looked really up for the game and Lakers ended the quarter in front 86-77.

In the fianl period Artest was ejected by the referee because of his protests regarding something that appeared to be a struck in the throat by Bryant’s elbow.
