Boston Celtics succeeded in winning a tensed game with the Bulls in Massachuetes on May 2nd. This was more than a challenge, as the Chicago Bulls seemed to have been the coast-to-coast favourite so far. The victory on Sunday was one achieved through endurance and hard work, the Celtics built up and kept the game balanced offense-wise. Final score: 109-99, the NBA champions edging their enthralling Eastern Conference first-round series by a 4-3 margin
Top shooter for the Celtics was Ray Allen scored 23 points, with Paul Pierce hitting 20 big ones also. Boston Celtics’ coach Doc Rivers was proud of the team, his words: “We started playing defense, getting stops.”, concluding that “”We turned into the Celtics again.” The second-seeded Celtics are looking to face the Orlando Magic in the conference semi-finals which start in Boston on Monday. The team is surely on no movies&beer Sunday, as coach Rivers is not the type to bask in a sole succes and lower weapons.
The seventh-seeded Bulls, who were led by Ben Gordon’s 33 points, forged a four-point advantage after the first quarter, but the Celtics came up on that with a 29-11 shinning second. “We weathered their storm and just hung in there,” Rivers said. “Finally in the second quarter, we made a run.”
The final eight minutes of the second quarter gave watchers some real hot action, as a 22-2 frenzy engulfed Boston, 52-38 lead at the half.
“We definitely got our work cut out,” Pierce said of the best-of-seven series. “But we are still the champs until somebody knocks us off.”
