Biggest Football Rivalry : El Clasico Real Madrid VS FC Barcelona
El Derby Espanol or El Clasico, is the general term that defines any confrontation between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Many consider it to be the biggest derby from our planet. If you don’t trust this people you can see the numbers: Real Madrid – Barcelona is the most watched football match after the Champions League final, millions of people from all over the world watching it. At the same time these two teams are the most important from Spain, Real Madrid wining the championship 73 times and Barcelona 74 times. It’s a close race that is still going today.
Some of the players that have played for Madrid are: Alfredo di Stefano, Puskas, Hugo Sanchez, Johan Crujff, Zinedine Zidane. For Barcelona we remember: Maradona, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Hagi, Messi, Romario and many others.
At European level Real Madrid has 5 consecutive Champions League trophies between 1955 – 1960, and four more in 1966, 1998, 2000 and 2002 (has the most trophies of all the European clubs). Also they have conquered two UEFA Cups, a European Supercup and 3 intercontinental cups.
On the other side Barca has 3 Champions League trophies, 4 UEFA Cups and 3 European Supercups. In the 2009-2010 season they also did something that no one has ever did wining no less than 6 competitions (all the competitions they played in).
The war is far from ending and the result can be only one: good football.
