Miss California Carrie Prejean is keeping her Crown ! The recent fuss about some nude pictures she did not declare (see our posts on the subject), and her tricky statements that she does not approve of gay marriage, had led to the Miss USA pageant threatening of stripping her of the title.
However, even if her comments on same-sex marriage made her appear (and that blog was well-read for that matter) of Perez Hilton’s blog as well as spawn spiteful reactions from gay-supporters, Carrie Prejean never lost her popularity among fans and the people of California. Also, Christians attacked her for the pictures, but I am thinking that after seeing them and realising that her mistake was truly minor, they all agreed that it was nothing that not-Christian.
In case some of you are not aware, the Miss Universe Organization is owned by Donald Trump and the National Broadcasting Company (NBC). The organization produces the Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA pageants.
Thus, Trump decided not to dismiss her and take away the Crown, and the blond beauty queen is still Miss of sunny Calif. It is still a bit early to describe reactions over the web, but the general sentiment is a positive one. Donald declared that the pictures might indeed be seem as a small risk, but also that they are beautiful and not really nudes. Also, Carrie brought to her defense an interesting statement: “We made a determination that the pictures taken they were acceptable, they were fine, in some case they were beautiful pictures, in some cases they were modelling pictures.”
Donald Trump, representing the Miss USA pageant, also considered that speaking her opinion loud on same-sex marriage is not wrong. In my opinion, it does not seem probable that the pictures were launched by Christian haters of exclusively to mock her conservative views. In addition, she really is involved in protecting marriage, above some daring comments on a beauty show: she was a few days after the Miss contest in Washington DC with the National Organisation for Marriage, as you can see in the video link below.
As someone states on a blog : “Christians aren’t the only ones who are vulnerable to being called hypocrites. If you have high ideals, you’ve probably been a hypocrite on MANY occasions.”
