Was the ‘Bruno’-Eminem Stunt Staged? And what does Paris Hilton have to do with it?

Sunday, at the MTV Movie Awards, comedian Sacha Baron Cohen stole the spotlights while giving an award. No, this time he was not the brit rapper Ali G nor funnyman Borat, but Bruno, the flamboyant Australian gay man. The stunt he pulled took great guts, and a load of imagination (even if some may argue): he fell down from the ‘sky’ with his butt naked right on top of … Eminem !

Well, most of you already either saw the flick or heard the news by now, so let’s find out if the stunt was a real surprise – as seen on the white rapper’s eyes – or if it was staged.

Award show’s producer Mark Burnett, at Sasha’s request, initially contacted a different VIP for the stunt. No one else than Paris Hilton, the blond socialite that never misses a public event. Indeed, the person-to-fall-upon that Bruno wanted to fall on most of all in the world was Paris. Well, trying not to be to methaporical I say that ass-first is the way to meet Paris.

Life&Style also reports that Sacha Baron Cohen would have preferred Paris, but unfortunately she declined the offer without giving much details. Lack of courage and sense of humour is what I hear in my mind, but maybe I`m just being mean.

Now, concerning the cocky joke being staged or not, I suppose most of you are guessing by now the answer. “Yes, the Eminem-Bruno incident was staged,” head writer Scott Aukerman says on his blog. “They rehearsed it at dress [rehearsal] and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show.” However, Eminem was not aware that “Bruno” will be butt-naked, so the element of surprise was there. At the actual stunt happening live on MTV, Baron Cohen was lowered upside-down from the rafters dressed as an angel right into rapper Eminem’s lap after an apparently staged problem with his wire harness. Baron Cohen had only a jockstrap on underneath and fully exposed his buttocks area right in Eminem’s face. Eminem swore repeatedly, demanding that his bodyguards remove Baron Cohen, then left the auditorium.

But what about Paris Hilton? It seems her claimed status is “no remorse no regrets” regarding the MTV appearance decline. “Paris is quite happy she turned down the offer,” and insider told Life&Style. I for one think Sacha’s momentum made everyone die with laughter and will go down in history as one of the most original and crazy winner-announcements ever, so maybe Miss Hilton has a mighty good reason to regret her decision. Man, I would have loved to see Bruno fall his ass on her face..
