This was a black day for Toyota: the test engineer, Hiromu Naruse, died in a car crash, at the wheel of a Lexus LF-A Special Edition on the Nurburgring track.
Hiromu Naruse begun his career for Toyota in 1963, entering the engineer team of the Vehicle Evaluation and Development department. It was the main responsible for the development of the iconic Toyota 200GT, but also of the new supercar Lexus LF-A.
At the moment of the tragic event, Hirmonu Naruse was at the wheel of a Lexus LF-A Special Editon, on a road near the famous Nurburgring circuit. The faith made that a BMW 3-Series to drive on the same road, but from different direction, also in special tests.
The Police concluded that the crash occurred because of high speed, 60 mph speed limit on that part of road, and after the two cars collided, Hirmonu Naruse, aged 67, lost his life. The drivers of the BMW were also harmed, one of them being critical.

The crash was so violent, as special teams deployed at the spot in order to extract the Toyota engineer body’s form the LF-A wreck.
Hiromu Naruse was no ordinary engineer, but also a car racing enthusiast, being the Lexus Gazoo Racing team chief, also participating on the 24 hours Nurburgring race, hosted by ADAC.
