‘Montauk Monster’ seen again?

Montauk Monster

A strange carcass, a dead creature’s body, was found on the shore and was quickly related to the so-called “Montauk Monster”. This was named after the summer resort of Montauk. Even if there is no verification that the pictures are authentic, they sure seem so. We also linked a video below.

But is this a real creature of an urban myth, inspired by action-sf movies?

A somewhat similar carcass was found last July, in Mountak NewYork, at a popular surfing spot. It sparked quite a controversy over the web. One particular individual interested in this already-myth is Nicky Papers, who also runs a website dedicated to the Montauk Monster. (click to visit).

Even if the ..thing looks quite gruesome, some people dismiss the legend saying that this can not be a strange creature living underwater. Here is a comment from Nicky Papers’ blog:

” How about a large tortoise or sea turtle who has died and lost it’s shell? The “face” looks very similar to a turtle. I have no idea what the body would look like without it’s shell.

Nicky Papers went down to Southold N.Y. to inspect the carcass, being convinced that it is indeed another appearance of the Monster. On seeing the remains, Nicky also took pictures.

“The beast smelled like a mix of low-tide and rotten garbage,” Papers wrote. “It really smelled horrific. I couldn’t help but take numerous pictures of it and video clips.”

Among other rather dubious claims and opinions, Nicky Papers think there might be a link between the creature and the nearby Plum Island Animal Disease Center.

“If this is a genetic mishap from Plum Island, we’d like to sell the remains to an independent lab for study,”. He added: “It has become a race against the clock as the couple who originally found ‘Beastie’ are diligently putting more ice into the cooler to keep the carcass fresh.”
