The human circulatory system represents the virtual definition of life. No system is more critical to our existence. Yet only 400 years ago, no one understood our circulatory system. Many seriously thought that the thumping inside the chest was the voice of the conscience trying to be heard. Most thought that blood was created in the liver and consumed by the muscles. Some still thought that arteries were filled with air.

William Harvey discovered the actual function of the major elements of the circulatory system (heart, lungs, arteries, and veins) and created the first complete and accurate picture of human blood circulation. Harvey was also the first to use the scientific method for biological studies. Every scientist since has followed his example. Harvey’s 1628 book represents the beginning of modern physiology.

The National Study Department that is studying behavior in USA discovered that around 60% of married women tend to eat when no one is looking.

They manage to eat when their life partner is not looking and even lie to him about the diet they are having and the food they are eating.

According to AP a quarter of married women think at their weight once every five minute but they are not doing anything to keep it. Only 10% think to have sex to lose some weight and 15% of them don’t hesitate to eat without their husbands at fastfood.

40% of women admitted that they eat a lot of chocolate and that they do this behind their partner’s back

Types Of Food

The Japanese just invented an application that will tell you how many calories your food has by only tacking a picture of it.

With this app you will have to only take a picture and the phone will recognize the product from its shape and color. After that it will make a comparison to over 100.000 types of meal it has in its database.

The only problem the developers have is that the program can’t make the difference between a normal portion and a large one. With this Japanese people have made one step further in their care of what they eat and how healthy is their food.

Hope you won’t have you mobile with you when sitting in line at KFC or other fast food because for sure it will give you an error number!

Mario Monicelli

The Italian director Mario Monicelli, one of the masters of Italian comedy, killed himself on Monday evening, at the age of 95, throwing himself from the window from a hospital in Rome where he was under treatment.

The Italian movie star was in the hospital suffering from cancer and was receiving treatment from doctors at San Giovanni in Rome.

His father, Tomaso, a much known writer and journalist, killed himself to, in 1946, at the age of 63.

“Death doesn’t scare me and only annoys me. For example, it annoys me that someone today is here and tomorrow can disappear. It annoys me very much the fact that I will not be here anymore, not the fact that I will die.”Monicelli said in 2007.

Mario Monicelli was considered a master of Italian comedy movie, a type of movie that he made famous along with others from his generation like Dino Risi and Luigi Comencini.

The Fight Against Cholera

The Cholera Epidemic has reached the US with one case being spotted so far.

The Cholera Epidemic from Haiti has managed to pass the borders of the Central America State. A 1^st case of Cholera was noticed Tuesday in the Dominican Republic that is situated near Haiti. Another case was discovered Thursday in Florida.

The women from US recently made a recent visit to her family in Haiti and when she came back from the trip in Miami she felt very sick. She was rushed to local center and her illness was kept under observation.

After 5 days in hospital, the woman got better. “She feels better” Thomas Torok, a Cholera specialist in the Health Department from California said. “There are other cases that are under observation but no other Cholera ones so far.” He added also.

Obama After A Bascketball Injury

The White House announced that President Obama managed to get 12 stitches in his lip after he was hit at a basketball game.

The state secretary, Robert Gibbs, declared that the president was hit last Friday by someone with the elbow. He stated perfectly clear that it was a sport injuries and it wasn’t done intentionally.

The president received medical attention from the medical cabinet in the White House. Obama was visiting Fort McNair with his family and some friends for a morning game of basketball.

Cholera Victims

According to the Heath Department from Haiti cholera made over 1.250 victims so far.

The number of suffering persons that have been admitted in the hospital has reached 20.687 and over 52.715 cases of contamination were registered. These numbers are from November 17 according to some sources.

A little over half Cholera cases are situated in the North region where the epidemic started.  The number of deceased people has reached 64 in the capital Port-au-Prince where numerous refugee camps are situated after the earthquake from January 12. Around 20 children with ages below 5 have died so far.

The number of infection centers is increasing and according to some European specialists the numbers given so far are just a part of what is actual happening there.

Pope Benedict XVI

Pope Benedict the XVI has just declared that he will be the 1^st Pope in over 700 years that will resign if his health condition should get worse or if would have mental problems.

The Pope, that has 83 years, made a big fuss with the declaration at Vatican. And it’s not the 1^st of this kind if you remember the declaration given to a German journalist in which he stated that using a condom is OK in some cases.

According to The Telegraph in the book “Light of the World: The Pope, the Church, and the Sign of the Times” Benedict said: “Yes, if a Pope sees he is not capable to do his job because of physical or mental problems he should abdicate”

Also Benedict added: “I myself wonder sometimes if I would be able to be a Pope till I die and if my health will let me do so?”

Marijuana Will Be Sold In Medical Puposes

The Arizona authorities have launched a law that states marijuana is legal for those people that have mental problems.

According to The Telegraph, Arizona is the 15^th state from US that accepted marijuana consumption in medical purposes. California was the 1^st state that accepted this law back in 1966, being followed by other 13 among them being Washington DC.

So, the Arizona patients that have mental illnesses can buy marijuana once every two weeks or even plant and harvest their own plants. Keep in mind that they need a medical letter from their doctor.

There will be only 124 stores in the state of Arizona.

Cholera In Haiti

The last report for the cholera epidemic in Haiti doesn’t look so good, with the number of deaths rising to 917, an increase of 120 persons in comparison to that presented Friday.

The health department from Haiti announced yesterday that the numbers of deceased people has reached 917. At the same time 14,942 sick people were received in hospitals with 14.083 living the medical centers after receiving treatment.

The epidemic started in October, this year. The fast spread of the disease happened because of the pore hygiene conditions from the refugee camps that hold over 1.300.000 persons that are living there because of the earthquake from 12 January.

After the earthquake that had 12 degrees on the Richter scale 220,000 persons died and 300,000 more were injured. It had over 52 replicas since then.
