21 Confirmed Swine Flu Cases In Japan, While Turkey Announces Its First H1N1 Case

Swine Flu Masks in Japan

The Swine Flu threat is not over yet as in Japan there were found 21 people infected with the H1N1 virus, while one person in Turkey was also found infected with the strain. In Japan all the 21 people were students, 10 of them women and 11 men. From these 21 confirmed cases in Japan, nine came from a high-school in Osaka, and the other twelve from two high-schools in Kobe.

Japan’s health ministry confirmed the 21 cases of swine flu, and he said that health officials are now trying to track down the “route” of the H1N1 virus. Haruki Ogawa said that this is the first Swine Flu local transmission case, but like said they are still trying to track down the path of the virus.

As for Turkey, this is the first reported case of swine flu, and the first confirmed H1N1 infection in the country. This means that the H1N1 virus has now affected people from about 40 countries, however, the man wasn’t a Turkey citizen, he was an American citizen who arrived on the Istanbul airport, and he tested positive for the Influenza A virus.

Now that the total cases of Swine Flu has reached 8,000, WHO is probably going to raise their alert level to 6 and declare it a pandemic. This would be the first since 1968.
