The well-known band and its lead singer Gwen Stefani are getting on the road again for their first tour in five years. The reunited band will set off for a coast-to-coast tour and everybody hopes it will be the best time to come up with a new album.
Their first official stop was on Sunday(May 3) at the Jersey Meadowlands’Bamboozle Festival but their first appearance as a band was Friday(May 1) on NBC’s Today Show. The band took the appearance as a warm up and all that was seen in Stefani’s problems to hit high notes and her overall weak performance. Later, she admitted that she is a little rusty but she will do everything to improve her singing as soon as possible.
It’s good to know that the band still has a lot of fans, some of them so desperate to see their favorite band reunited that they slept on the sidewalks outside the NBC studios at Rockefeller Center just to catch the three-song performance. The band’s set started with “Spiderwebs”, then “Don’t Speak” and the last but not the least, their Talk Talk 2003 cover, ”It’s My Life”.
Surprisingly, the band continues to look very good together. Stefani wore a black Fred Perry top, bleached jeans, platform shoes and red suspenders. All of the other members of the band were dressed in white except for the drummer, Adrian Young, who wore striped knee-socks.
Their second warm up show was at the Borgota Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City where Gwen started to make fun of herself asking the crowd how many times did she messed up on the Today Show. Along with the band was Gwen’s second son, Zuma, who sat in the front row and Shannen Doherty also made an appearance at the after show party.
Their biggest performance this year was Sunday night at the Bamboozle Festival where the band put on a set with their finest ska and soul-inflected tunes. Unfortunately the band is lacking new material but Stefani hopes all of this will change on tour where she does her best writing and come up with a new album by the end of the tour. Their Sunday performance started off with “Spiderweb”, followed up by “Hella Good”, “Underneth it All” and “Excuse Me Mr.”. They also gave the audience a preview of their cover of Adam & The Ants’”Stand And Deliver”. The tune will be played on the May 11’s episode of “Gossip Girl” tv show.
