Now it’s official that David Souter will retire from the Supreme Court when his current mandate ends. Justice David Souter will remain in charge until the US officials chose and confirm his successor, however, it could take longer than the ending of the current term. Reports say that it will be hard to choose another leader for the Supreme Court as October is very near and we don’t want to appoint the wrong man or woman. It is said that President Barack Obama is more keen on appointing a woman than a man.
Regarding Souter’s departure, he is not the older member of the Supreme Court but sources say that he was planning this for a long time as he never enjoyed Washington. David Souter will move back to his native home in New Hampshire. Another reason of Souter’s departure could be the fact that he lacks four law clerks as he didn’t hire any of them. The other 8 justices hired four clerks for each of them, however, this was the plan for Souter. He didn’t hire any clerks because he was planning to leave for a long time.
