Kris Allen
The American Idol finalist Kris Allen gave an extraordinary performance on Idol Top 3 program on May 12, where his cover of the hit Heartless swept the judges off their feet.
The 23-year-old Kris Allen from Conway, Arkansas delivered one of the best performances ever seen on American Idol. Of course he had his ups and downs but the second track he played really made an impression. His first performance was the One Republic hit Apologize, which was chosen by judge Kara DioGuardi, and he rise to the expectations. The critics were both good and bad but overall Kris did a good job on his first performance. Randy Jackson congratulated the young singer saying this is the kind of artist he could be. On the other hand, Kara DioGuardi thought he should have made the tune more his own and that he should take more chances in the future. Simon Cowell was the man who came in Allen’s defense and said to fellow judge Kara that she can’t criticize Kris for playing the song she picked out for him.
The young finalist’s own song choice was the pick of the show, when he decided to play Kanye West hit single Heartless. His performance included him playing the guitar and some great dedication, singing the song with nuance and expression.
This time the judges were all in favor, Jackson even said his cover was better than the original. His performance was bold, brave and original, as Kara DioGuardi said, and got him back on the track after he almost got written off after the poor song choice in the first round.

enough with the hating already
Whatever! That was not Kanye West’s song it was the Fray’s version right down to the acustic guitar, minus the piano. If he is going to do a version he needs to at least acknowledge the artist he is stealing from! Danny was a much better singer than Kris Allen. Kris Allen has bored me all seaon long and I’m so surprised Danny is out and Kris is in. So I think the final will be wierd. If Adam Lambert wasn’t in it I wouldn’t watch it at all.
I agree Arizona! I mean Kris is a good singer, but he’s not better than Danny! As far as Adam, well he’s UNBEATABLE.It should have been Adam & Danny as the top 2 with Adam as the winner.I have a feeling that Danny will end up with more success in the industry than Kris in the long run because his voice is so much more unique than Kris. UMMMMMMMMMMMM BTW,is anyone wondering what I am when it comes to Kris singing Heartless??? …that maybe he saw MIA’S VERSION from MTV’S TAKING THE STAGE & got the idea from her?!? Her performance was much better than his too. She’s an AMAZING ARTIST!Google it & you can see the video of her singing Heartless.
uhhhm…you all are being ridiculous.
Heartless IS kanye’s song.
the fray did do their own version of Heartless, and so did alot of other artists. but just because Kris does too, doesn’t mean he stole it. grow up.
Kris Allen did a version of Heartless, and guess what? he took a risk and it was good. it didn’t sound like the fray or kanye, MIA, etc. it was his own.
if you haven’t noticed, all the songs they’re singing are somebody elses and have been covered numerous times.
i think danny, kris, and adam are all great artists. just because you favor one doesn’t mean you have to insult the other.
oh and, if you choose to not watch the show just because YOUR favorite was sent home, I’m sure FOX’s ratings won’t go down, considering MILLIONS of people watch the show and vote on who stays or go’s. quit being a baby!
Hi! I’m a devout Christian and a working mother of two boys. Each time I watch American Idol’s performance finale replayed, I can not help but ask: What is wrong with America? America’s vote for Kris Allen, or America’s vote against Adam Lambert, seems to be a contemptuous hate vote against various sectors of society that Adam Lambert appears to stand for. People forgot that American Idol is a singing contest, not a political battle nor a popularity contest among class of persons. The show is a singing talent contest that is open to all, regardless of orientation or religion. And of all its contestants, Adam Lambert consistently proved to be the amazingly innovative artist and the best singer, gifted with a powerful voice. ADAM LAMBERT DESERVED TO WIN. Even Kris knows this within his Christian heart, so much so that when he was unexpectedly handed the undeserved title, he evidently became perplexed and then asserted in open public that “Adam deserves this…” – instinctively repudiating the unbelievable subsuming vote results and in righteous adherence to glaring truth. You could actually count so many seconds before the puzzled Kris finally acquiesced to receive the undeserved crown, but only after Adam graciously approached to place his arm around Kris’ shoulder in encouragement. Adam Lambert is the true winner. Should I also ask: What is wrong with this American Idol TV show?
