Here is yet another typical story between pop stars. By typical I story I mean one with a sad ending. After months of speculation and rumors about their relationship, it is now official that Nas and Kelis are breaking-up. Although Kelis is seven-months pregnant, she filed for divorce due to irreconcilably differences. A spokesperson for Kelis confirmed the rumors, and she said that the married couple will get a divorce even if Kelis is expected to give birth to a boy in two-months time.
“I can confirm that she has filed for divorce. We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time,” said Kelis’ spokesperson.
Kelis will be represented by well-known and popular attorney Laura Wasser who also worked for Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, and Stevie Wonder. A couple of months ago, Nas was very excited by the prospect of having a son, but nothing everything will fall apart. Nas has another daughter, aged 15, from a previous marriage.
I remind you that Kelis and Nas first met at a afterparty of the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards organized by Sean “P. Diddy” Combs.
“I wasn’t going to go, but I’m glad I did. Then at the afterparty, I met my girl,” remembers Nas.
“Everyone moves out of the way, and Nas stands up, and I put my hand out, and I’m like, ‘Hey, I’m Kelis’,” remembers Kelis. “And he goes, ‘Who?’ then I’m crawling into a fucking hole,” she says. However, everything changed when Nas said “Wait-huh? What’s your name? ‘And I’m like, Kelis, and he’s like, ‘Oh, well that’s great, because I’ve been waiting to make you my wife all these years,” and then Kelis was like “That’s great, because that’s all I wanna be.”
The couple married on July 28, 2003 in Atlanta and t looks like after six years of marriage, their relationship will be over.
