Actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested and charged with assault for headbutting fashion designer Jack McCollough on Thursday. The star of the Emmy and Golden Globe award winner television show “24″ turned himself into police at a station in the Manhattan neighborhood of Soho.
It seems that Sutherland is not a fashion lover, as sources say that he headbutted McColough on Monday night at a swank party in New York City after an annual costume gala held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The incident took place at the bar below The Mercer Hotel at around 2 a.m. Southerland was seen at the bar in the company of actress Brooke Shields and it is said that he lost his temper when fashion designer Jack McCollough bumped into Shields. Media outlets say that, after an argument, Sutherland headbutted McCollugh in the face.
McCollough was photographed with a cut on his nose the day after the incident, the same day when he reported the assault at a police station in Manhattan.
Sutherland was not arrested, but he is expected to apear in the court in the next few weeks.
This is not the first time when actor Donald Sutherland’s son, Keifer, is having problems with police. In 2007 he served 48 days in jail for drunken driving in Los Angeles, so any criminal charge will have bad repercussions for Sutherland, as he is serving five years probation after that incident.
