The second Celebrity Apprentice season came down to a battle between Joan Rivers and poker champion Annie Duke from which Rivers came out victoriously. Last edition’s winner, Pierce Morgan, is best known to all Americans as being one of the judges in the English show, Britain’s Got Talent.
In this year’s Celebrity Apprentice the last of the 16 celebrities who battled for the title were two women, Annie Duke and Joan Rivers. Even if this kind of shows are supposedly scripted and create just another form of entertainment, the hatred between the two finalists could actually be felt and both of them did an incredible job creating that impression. Or who knows, maybe they craved for that title more than we could ever imagine.
The season finale was about a fundraiser and although Rivers was crushed by Duke with only $150,830 against almost half a million ($ 465,725), Rivers was after all that the winner of the show. Apparently Trump considered money as being not so important after all. He gave Annie the credit for raising all that money and doing a great job on charity integration but the other three points went to Joan. She had better celebrities, better guest experience and better Kodak integration. Game, set and match for Joan Rivers.
Annie Duke was raising money for Refugees International and Joan Rivers was playing for God’s Love We Deliver. Despite the fact that the show’s all about exposing the worst in b-level celebrities, it seems like the final battle between the last two contenders helped 2009 Celebrity Apprentice’s ratings. Game, set and match for Trump who’s going to be back next year with yet another season on NBC.
